Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting; Masters Degree strongly preferred
  • 7 years or more of accounting experience to include a minimum of 2 years of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and 2 years in a public corporation.
  • CPA certification highly desired
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and the ability to research technical accounting issues and apply them accordingly
  • Multiple location experience required, international experience a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of managerial experience
  • Strong analytical and problem skills
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced, detailed and deadline-oriented environment by balancing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • JD Edwards and Hyperion exposure preferred or proven ability to learn new computer systems quickly

Job Description:

Job Purpose Statement:

The Assistant Controller ensures the financial results from global operations are reported timely, accurately and in compliance with all company policies and US GAAP. This position is also responsible for fulfilling internal financial reporting requirements and assisting external financial reporting.

Summary of Responsibility:

Reporting to the Division Controller, this position is mainly responsible for the Closing and Financial Reporting process for the Company. This position will also assist in driving process improvements in the areas of booking and reporting financial information and the monthly and quarterly close process. They will also provide financial support as needed to other departments, and assist in the establishment of financial policies that are consistent with external and internal requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate period end closing process to ensure deadlines are met
  • Work with multiple manufacturing and distribution locations to ensure the accuracy of the financial records
  • Prepare, review and analyze complex and/or confidential accrual worksheets
  • Prepare, review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Perform account analysis and supporting schedules at month-end and quarter-end
  • Assist in managing internal and external audits
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements) in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist in researching technical accounting and financial reporting issues
  • Assists in the drafting, review and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Work Schedule: M-F and peak times as needed
